Love in Action: Valentine’s at Nourish

This Valentine’s Day, our entire community came together in the most beautiful way.
Local schools, neighbors, and service organizations poured their creativity into handmade Valentine’s Day cards and crafts. During Crafternoons, our volunteers joined in, adding their own thoughtful touches to each delivery.
Through our partnership with AARP and Wish of a Lifetime’s Cupid Crew, roses traveled alongside meals, bringing surprise and joy to our clients’ doors. Volunteers carefully packed every rose, sorted every card, and made sure each one reached the right doorstep.
What could have been just another winter day became something brighter, warmer, and deeply personal.
The love extended beyond our regular routes. At VFW Post 9644’s 48th Annual Salute to Seniors Luncheon, veterans and older adults gathered to celebrate together. Lunch was served. Stories were shared. Roses and Valentine’s cards were handed out with smiles.
All of it connected by one simple truth. When this community shows up, love is delivered.
Because at Nourish, it is never just about the food alone.
It is the knock at the door.
The friendly face.
The moment of conversation.
The reminder that someone remembers you.
And sometimes, it is a rose, a handmade card, and a meal shared with care.
Here is what a few of our clients shared:
“You made my Valentine’s Day. I’m a lonely person, and you brought me a Valentine, a rose, and beautiful food. I can’t believe how beautiful it was. It makes such a big difference to us lonely people. Thank you to the chef, the drivers, and everyone at Nourish Meals on Wheels.”
— Miriam
“Thank you so much for the flowers, the roses, and all the pretty little cards. We have them sitting up on the table so we can look at them. Thank you for all you do, and for the meals you cook and bring to us.”
— Serenity and William
Moments like these remind us that nourishment goes far beyond the plate. It is connection, kindness, and community delivered right to the door.
