A Thanksgiving of Growth, Gratitude, and Greater Need

As we head into the long Thanksgiving weekend, Nourish Meals on Wheels is experiencing both incredible growth and an ever-increasing need in our community. Today, our team and volunteers delivered 2,779 meals, the highest number we have ever delivered in a single day. Each meal will carry a neighbor through today and the four-day holiday weekend, offering nourishment, comfort, and a reminder that they are not alone during a season that can feel especially quiet.
Just three years ago on this same day, we delivered 1,952 meals. Today, we served 827 more. That 42 percent increase reflects how rapidly the need for support is growing among older and homebound adults in South Metro Denver.
Behind each of those meals is a neighbor facing financial strain, health challenges, mobility limitations, or the experience of spending holidays without family nearby. These are the realities our clients navigate every day, and they become even more significant during long holiday weekends when regular routines pause and isolation can deepen.
Behind each meal is also someone in our community who cares. Our volunteers, supporters, and donors are the reason we can continue meeting this rising need. Their time, generosity, and commitment ensure that our neighbors are not forgotten. They help us extend more than a meal. They help us offer connection, dignity, and reassurance at a time of year when those things matter most.
As we reflect on this season of gratitude, we want to thank every person who makes our mission possible. Whether you deliver meals, donate, share our message, or hold our neighbors in your thoughts during the holidays, you are part of the Nourish story. You help us ensure that every older adult we serve feels seen, supported, and cared for.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue to grow to meet the needs of our community. From all of us at Nourish Meals on Wheels, we wish you a warm and meaningful Thanksgiving.
