Volunteer Spotlight: Dan R

For the past 13 years, Dan R. has been a steady and caring presence at Nourish Meals on Wheels. His dedication is a wonderful example of how one person’s commitment to service can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Dan first began volunteering because he wanted to do something constructive in his local community. What started as a simple desire to help has grown into an important and meaningful part of his life. One of the things Dan enjoys most is the opportunity to see and talk with clients along his route, knowing that even a short visit can brighten someone’s day.

Volunteering is not just something Dan fits into his schedule. It is a central part of his life. In addition to his time with Nourish, he is involved with several other organizations and service opportunities, always looking for ways to give back. When asked what he would say to someone considering volunteering, Dan keeps it simple: “You will really enjoy it, getting to know clients, fellow volunteers, and staff.”

A lifelong dog lover, Dan also volunteers with service dogs, combining his love of animals with his passion for helping others. Outside of volunteering, Dan enjoys staying active. He loves skiing, with Mary Jane and Winter Park among his favorite places to spend time on the slopes. Occasionally, after finishing a delivery route, he will grab his gear and head up for a few runs.

Reflecting on his time with Nourish, Dan shared that he has been surprised by just how meaningful volunteering has become in his life. It has given him a deeper sense of purpose and connection to the community.

If Dan had to describe volunteering at Nourish in one word, he says it would be “meaningful.”

We could not agree more.

Thank you, Dan, for 13 years of compassion, commitment, and care for your neighbors. We are grateful to have you as part of the Nourish community.
