At Nourish Meals on Wheels, every volunteer brings their own personality and passion to the mission. Some arrive with family members or friends, others serve solo, and each one makes a difference in their own way. What unites them all is a shared commitment to caring for our older neighbors and ensuring no one feels forgotten.
For Oscar, that care comes on two wheels. Every Thursday (weather permitting), he loads his BMW touring motorcycle with Nourish Meals on Wheels deliveries and heads out along Federal Boulevard. For the past eight years, his steady service on Route 1 has connected him with dozens of clients across South Denver who look forward to his visits each week.

Before volunteering, Oscar worked as a fitness instructor at the Castle Rock Recreation Center. When a friend invited him to help with a large holiday delivery, he discovered how meaningful the experience could be. Although that friend has since retired, Oscar has kept going, finding his own joy and purpose in serving others.
He says volunteering with Nourish brings him happiness and gratitude. He feels fortunate to be in a position to give back and proud to support the work being done to strengthen the community. Over the years, he has built close friendships with both clients and fellow volunteers, turning his weekly route into a highlight of his week.

Oscar’s story is a reminder that kindness can take many forms. For him, it comes with a full heart, a friendly smile, and a little extra horsepower.
Whether you drive a car, a truck, or even a motorcycle, you can bring comfort and care to an older neighbor. Join our volunteer team or make a gift today to help deliver more than a meal.
