Every day, Nourish Meals on Wheels volunteers bring care and connection to older adults. Their commitment ensures that each meal is more than food; it is a moment of kindness, friendship, and dignity. Some volunteers have been with us for years, turning service into a lifelong calling.

Among them are Carla and Lanny, who joined the Nourish family in 2014 after returning to the United States from several years abroad. Searching for meaningful ways to reconnect with their community, they joined friends for a meal delivery ride-along and soon found their place with Nourish.
With her background as a registered nurse, Carla knows how important it is for older adults to have the support they need to remain healthy and independent at home. That understanding inspired her to keep serving, even during the pandemic, when volunteers gathered outdoors in masks to pick up and deliver meals. “It’s all about the clients,” Carla shared.
Over the years, Carla and Lanny have built lasting friendships with clients and fellow volunteers alike. For them, each visit is an opportunity to make someone’s day a little brighter and to remind their neighbors that they are cared for and remembered. Their story reflects the very heart of the Nourish mission: compassion, consistency, and community.
Volunteers like Carla and Lanny make independence possible for thousands of older adults in our community. Join our volunteer team or make a gift today to help ensure that no neighbor is left unseen or unsupported.
