At Nourish Meals on Wheels, we know that companionship is just as important as nutrition—and for many of the older adults we serve, their furry friends are their closest companions. Pets provide unconditional love, comfort, and a sense of purpose, helping to combat loneliness and improve overall well-being.

Why Pet Companionship Matters for Older Adults

Having a pet can bring so many benefits to aging adults, including:

💙 Lower Stress & Anxiety – Studies show that caring for an animal can lower blood pressure and reduce stress.

For many of our clients, their dog or cat is more than a pet—they’re family. That’s why we created the Nourish Pet Program to help support both our clients and their beloved companions.

How We Help: Nourish Pet Program 🐾

Every month, we deliver supplemental dog and cat food as well as kitty litter to clients who need extra support caring for their pets. These deliveries help ensure that pets stay well-fed and healthy, so our clients don’t have to worry about choosing between feeding themselves or their furry friends.

Additionally, our volunteer delivery drivers love greeting pets along their routes, and we’d love to make these visits continue to be special!
