At Nourish Meals on Wheels, every meal we deliver does more than nourish the body—it nourishes the soul by reminding older adults and homebound neighbors that they are valued and remembered. That’s why we created Crafternoons, a creative and meaningful way for volunteers to spread joy, one craft at a time!
What Are Crafternoons?
Crafternoons are hands-on volunteer events where participants create seasonal tray favors and heartfelt cards to brighten the day of the 650-725 clients we serve daily. These small, handmade gifts—whether a festive decoration, a thoughtful note, or a seasonal surprise—add a personal touch to every meal we deliver.
Each favor is a simple but powerful reminder that someone cares. As one client recently shared:
“Getting these little decorations and cards means so much. It’s like a friend is thinking of me, even if we’ve never met.”
Why It Matters
Many of our clients live alone and have limited social interaction. A meal delivery is often their only face-to-face contact for the day. These small, handcrafted gifts help:

Crafternoons are held on the second Wednesday of each month (except December) at Nourish Meals on Wheels.
No crafting experience? No problem! We provide all the supplies and step-by-step instructions, making it easy and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you're an expert crafter or just looking to try something new, Crafternoons are a fun, relaxing way to give back.
